Download the client one zip, nothing to edit
The client comes already pointed at the realm, with the Dungeon Finder and the realm's own interface built in. Create an account and make your game login, unzip the client anywhere, run Ravenhold.exe, log in with the game login. The launcher keeps it updated.

Rules short list
- One account per person. Share it with nobody; there's no recovering a character someone else deleted.
- No real-money trading between players, no gold selling, no boosting ads. The only store is ours, and it sells looks.
- No exploits, no third-party automation, no packet editing. Addons are fine.
- Be decent in chat. The companions are polite; be at least as polite as the bots.
- Names follow the usual fantasy-name rules: no slurs, no trademarks, no "Legolasss".
Questions people ask
Is it free?
Yes. Playing is free and always will be. The store sells mounts and cosmetics to help with the hosting bill; nothing in it changes a fight.
Which talent system is it?
The current Forever one: the talent trees as they are on the official Classic realms right now, not the 2006 version. If you have a build there, it works here unchanged. We don't rework classes ourselves.
What are the rates?
Your choice per character: 1x, 2x, 3x or 5x, chosen when you create it. Dungeon kills have an extra multiplier for everyone. Drop and gold rates are 1x.
Do I need to change a realmlist or config file?
No. The client you download is already set up for Ravenhold. If you've played on other private servers, this is the same idea as a prepackaged client: one folder, one exe.
Can I use my existing Classic install?
Not for Ravenhold. The realm needs its own client build (the Dungeon Finder, the interface and the connection are built in), and you shouldn't mix it with an official install anyway. Keep them in separate folders.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Queue together and the finder keeps you in one group; companions fill whatever roles your friends don't. Invite companions into a mixed group too.
Are the companions actual bots?
Yes. They're characters on the realm with their own AI, not players. They'll tell you so if you ask. They don't loot in your group, so everything that drops is yours.
Does Hardcore have special rules?
One life. When a Hardcore character dies it's over; the character stays in the list as a ghost you can look at but not play. Companions work the same as for anyone else.
Do addons work?
Standard Classic addons work; drop them in the client's Interface/AddOns folder like anywhere else. Damage meters read the same numbers as on official Classic. The Dungeon Finder comes with the client.
